Hey Everybody!
Just wanted to make a post to give some updates and announcements about this year’s Short Short Fest. Last year was a BIG hit for us and this year is EVEN bigger so we NEED to make a post to make sure everyone is ready for what is lined up!
FIRSTLY, if you want a shot at being featured, submissions have been open for the past 2 months and will be closing for review JUNE 28th. If you have not submitted a film yet, please do so at ShortShortFest.Com. We will be making our selection by July 3rd.
SECONDLY, we have some very big news for the event this year. The Gameboy Camera Photo Booth will be featured at BOTH event locations. So everyone can get a free Pixel Picture printed. Our spotlight artists for this year are Tom Warburton and James Lee. Both creators were nice enough to allow us to feature some sick work from their animation vault. I think you will be REALLY impressed with what will be shown.
Keeping the hype-train moving, we have some killer work in the raffle as well. We have ORIGINAL Billy and Mandy, Kids Next Door, and Regular Show boards and concept art that people can win and some KILLER swag from Sick Animation, and signed comics from Kevin Smith and a nights stay at the Cartoon Network Hotel. We were even lucky enough to get Toon Boom and Sharpie to sign on as supporters this year so we will also have animation programs and a lot of markers for people to win as well. And of course, we will have more tablets we will be raffling off again. (We can’t not have those!) haha
ALSO the post show Smash Tournament is returning again. We will be giving out some gamer prizes to whoever wins (as long as you don’t cheat as Kirby haha). All the other activities we had last year will be back, as well as some other cool stuff like anime cars and the Steven Universe van.
LASTLY, as of recently we have been doing it as a tour in 3 major cities. Back . . . to back. . . to back. . .
But last year was a CLOSE call . . . we lost a transmission in one car and a radiator in another car. After a scare like that, we are taking it easier on ourselves this summer and only doing 2 nights. Aug 3rd in Delco, PA at Marty Magees Irish pub, and Aug 9th at the Capri Drive-in in Coldwater, MI. The Delco Pa event is 18+ but a FREE event. The Michigan event is all ages but $15 for a ticket. Ticket price is set by the venue to help reduce our venue booking fee.
We know this may be a let down for our Pittsburgh fam and others. So we tried our best to still keep ya’ll in mind. If you are coming from far away we managed to get some local hotels to give us a limited number of reduced stays for people coming out for the event (link on our website). BUT, if you are going to Michigan, and you don’t want a hotel you ALSO have the option to camp at the drive-in for $25.
We already have an overwhelming number of films submitted that we are reviewing. We put a lot of care into everything we have lined up for the artists we house every year. This year will be our biggest one yet and we hope that is seen by the artists that come together, along with how passionate we are about our community. If you are new to Short Short Fest, welcome! Get ready for a fun, strange time and if you are returning to Short Short fest, thank you. Thank you so so much for helping grow this big crazy event with us.
